Rail Club du Kadiogo of Burkina Faso has finally received clearance by Confederations of Africa Football (CAF) to host their first round preliminary stage qualification of CAF Champions League match against Asante Kotoko at the Stade de l’Amitie sports stadium in Cotonou. The multipurpose 20,000 capacity sports stadium also known as General Mathiou Kerekou friendship stadium situated in the capital of Benin is also the favourite grounds for the country’s national soccer teams.

The match supposedly to be played at Stade Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast due to the suspension on Stade du 4th Août – the home grounds of RC Kadiogo by CAF as a results of it’s non-conformity with international requirements since March 2021 had a eleventh hour change of venue by CAF following the failure of Ivorian Football Federation to approve the request from the Burkinabe side.

CAF has therefore given the green light to the Burkina Faso champions to host Asante Kotoko at the Stade de l’Amitie, Cotonou on Monday, 12th September 2022. Whiles, the porcupine warriors will still remain in Accra and continue their preparations ahead of the game despite the last minute changes.

Meanwhile, the game between As Douanes (Burkina Faso) and AS Real Bamako (Mali), the possible opponent for Arch rivals Hearts of Oak in the next stage of Confederations Cup group stages qualifications is slated to be hosted by the same venue on Tuesday, 13th September 2022.
