The Ugandan goal merchant who has been pursuit by Asante Kotoko for the past two seasons with respect to his consistent impressive run in the Ugandan top flight has finally agreed to join the Porcupine Warriors on a two-year stretch. The acquisition of former Ugandan premier league goal king and part of the senior national team is expected to enhance the Asante Kotoko attacking third as they limber up for the Africa and the quest to maintain their dominance domestically.

Steven Mukwala Dese is joining the Ghanaian champions following his alluring moments in the Ugandan league as a consistent goal poacher with clubs like Vipers, Maroons FC and lastly, the most impressive with URA, where his good run earned them a maiden contest in Caf Confederations Cup after many years.

In February 2017, Mukwala won the Azam Ugandan premier with Vipers in his first season with the club and subsequently had a call up to the Under 23 national team and featured in a game against against Ghana and Cameroon respectively. He was later loaned to Marron FC from Vipers in 2019/2020 season where he led the goal king chart with 13 goals until coronavirus pandemic resulted the abrupt end of the season.

After the loan with the relegated Maroon FC, the prolific striker returned to Vipers and continued his potency run, having notched 7 goals in 20 games as usually a substitute. The attacking enforcer had his best moments when he joined URA FC in 2020 from Vipers, where he chalked up 29 goals in 51 matches which secured their qualification into Caf confederations cup.

A performance that guaranteed his call up to the Cranes of Ugandan team and also attracted the sight of Asante Kotoko.The new Asante Kotoko attacker is expected to be a huge addition due to his speed and power to finish the ball; the second Ugandan to join the red family in recent years after Joseph Ochaya.
