Stephen Amankona could return to his boyhood club after a struggled stretch with Asante Kotoko.
They say never go back, but Stephen Amankona after just a short stint with Asante Kotoko has declared his preference for a return to his township club. It’s reported, the player himself has expressed his willingness to rejoin Berekum Chelsea after just a season and half at the garden city.
Having left Berekum Chelsea for Asante Kotoko in September 2021 in what was at that point the most expensive transfer around $35, 000, Amankona is reportedly returning to his adored club after being a league champion with Asante Kotoko in his first season.
Kotoko Focus TV reports indicates an outright deal between the Porcupine Warriors and the bibires for the beleaguered winger and it’s said the player has already agreed three years with his former club. His spell in Kumasi, which has lasted a season and half, saw him notch just a goal in over twenty (25) appearances, and that’s enough to agree a decline career with the league champions.
Amankona’s exit would apparently leave a void, and Asante Kotoko are in the market for reinforcement as new acquisitions Rashid Nortey and Brazilian attacker Matheus Medeiros De Souza have announced already as an additions to Coach Seydou Zerbo’s squad.
