The disciplinary committee of the Ghana football Association has released their verdict on the recent match fixing allegations that has been leveled against certain football clubs and individuals involved in Ghana football. The Ghana football Association and the disciplinary committee has has banned Ashanti Gold football club and demoted them to play in division two following an investigation into a match fixing allegations that was labeled against them in their league match against Inter Allies football club in last season’s premier league fixture at Obuasi Lenclay Stadium.
Ashanti Gold football club won the match by 5 goals to 1 and many football fans across the country raised concern about how some of the goals was scored. This prompted the Ghana football Association to investigate the game and after a very long time, has released their verdict based on the evidences they gathered.  Aside punishing the football clubs involved, many players and individuals involved and sadly Richmond Nii Lamptey happened to be involved. Lamptey is a very important part of the Kotoko team that is leading the league table and has contributed immensely to the progress of the team. Lamptey signed for Kumasi Asante Kotoko from Inter Allies this season. He was part of the team that played against Ashanti Gold last season in that contentious match and after appearing before the disciplinary committee,  the committee found him guilty of involvement in an act that brings the name of the game into disrepute. He has therefore been handed a 30 months band from all football related activities starting from the 2022/2023 season.
The player is yet to issue out any communique as well as Kumasi Asante Kotoko but we are hoping to hear from them very soon as the player has been given the opportunity to go for an Appeal on the Verdict.
