The Ghalca chairman in an interview with Sompa FM, Kumasi stated categorically on their decision and preparation towards the commencement of a Top 4 competition and not ready to increase the numbers to favour the inclusion of any club. Many concerns were raised with agitations especially from the Kotoko supporters after rumors suggested the involvement of Hearts in the Top 4 competition despite their failure to make into the first four of the Ghana premier league.
Mr John Ansah, GHALCA vice chairman said, “there have been calls for Top 6 to include Hearts of Oak, for now, it’s Ghalca Top 4 and nothing has changed” he affirmed plainly to the Kumasi based radio station.
Mr Ansah also said, talks are ongoing to secure sponsors for the tournament “and it looks positive, so far”
According to the vice chairman, the format and full details of the tournament will be made public, latest by the end of July. He lastly added, there’s no truth that a certain company wants Hearts to participate before they sponsor the tournament.
The Ghalca Top 4 is expected to kickstart in the early days of August with qualified teams of Asante Kotoko, the league champions, Medeama SC, Bechem United and Karela United.
