Asante Kotoko to seek redemption against Tamale City on Wednesday.

Seydou Zerbo’s Asante Kotoko will be looking to revive their Premier League title hopes when they take on second to last Tamale City on Wednesday at Aliu Mahama sports complex. After a disappointing draw with Olympics halted the hunt for the top, Kotoko are expected to come out with a convincing win from Tamale.

A convincing win here will help the reds get their confidence back as the chase for the top still looks feasible into the next round fixtures. Another disappointing results could mean trouble to Zerbo’s team, especially when their next encounter is against strong Gold Stars at Duns park.

Tamale City are already struggling at the relegation ditch but have some fearsome bite at their favourite grounds. They’ve had an impressive wins against both Olympics and Aduana Stars at home with just a loss in their first home game. They’re battling for survival at the 17th position and will fancy a win against against Kotoko who are placing 3rd on the league table.

However, Asante Kotoko can’t afford to slip-up against the debutants. They’ll certainly be looking to prove their supremacy over the new entrants after picking just two points in the last two games. A team at the bottom shouldn’t be harmless if really Asante Kotoko are determined for the course to defend their title.

Whiles Justice Blay and Nicholas Mensah are back from suspensions and expected return of some injured players, Zerbo is likely to field a much stronger side in contrast to the selection against Olympics. It’s a game Kotoko is expected to be in dominance and win to leave the tie with Hearts of Oak and put the chase on Aduana Stars to quest for the top spot.
